BING SNAPSHOTS

GOAL

Create an omnipresent search. Search that can work from any where while using the mobile app. And search which is smart to understand the screen context and show results accordingly.

SOLUTION

Now when you want more information on the people, places, and things you’re reading about, you can hold down the home button to get contextual information and take related actions courtesy of Bing, without switching apps. Search result identifies relevant entities and shows them in the form of the cards with appropriate actions. Users can dig deep and get more information about the entity if required.

I started with iterating on multiple interaction models for invoking the global search and mapping the initial user flow from search invoke to detailed search results.

Sample of the search invoke model and search launch points below.

I iterated with multiple search results options. We had to devise the entity card language in sync with Bing brand while making sure we do not overload the card with irrelevant content. The entity cards had to be simple and glanceable.

Created detailed redlines to make sure the implementation is as per specs. We worked with the devs to file bugs and launch a quality release.
